HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 56

Requesting that the bridge spanning the Kanawha River between the city of St. Albans and the city of Nitro in Kanawha County, West Virginia, be hereafter named and referred to as the "Richard J. 'Dick' Henderson Memorial Bridge".

Whereas, Richard "Dick" Henderson served the Thirty-Second Delegate District of Kanawha County from election in 1992 until the time of his passing in 1998; and
Whereas, "Dick" Henderson was preceded in death by his son Bill, and is survived by his wife Lorraine and his children Rick, Mary, Patricia, John, Joan, Anne, Joe and Mike; and
Whereas, Richard J. "Dick" Henderson adopted St. Albans as his hometown; and
Whereas, "Dick" Henderson served his God, his church, his country in World War II, his community and his family; and
Whereas, "Dick" Henderson was a cherished member of the House of Delegates, loved and respected by one and all for his unique ability to communicate and entertain. Naming the bridge spanning from Nitro to St. Albans on the Kanawha River is a lasting tribute to a remarkable individual who left a lasting impression on the West Virginia Legislature; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the bridge spanning the Kanawha River between the cities of Nitro and St. Albans in Kanawha County, West Virginia, is requested to be hereafter named and referred to as the "Richard J. 'Dick' Henderson Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That one sign be erected at each end of the bridge in such a manner that motorists approaching the bridge may easily view at least one of the signs; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the County Commission of Kanawha County, West Virginia, the Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Transportation and the Henderson family.
